Editorial standards

How this guide is researched, reviewed and corrected

The value of an equipment reference depends on readers being able to distinguish published evidence, calculation, editorial judgement and uncertainty.

Standards

Six rules applied to the content

Primary sources first

Specifications should come from the manufacturer, an authorised Australian distributor, an official manual or another directly accountable publisher. Secondary sources may provide context but should not silently replace primary evidence.

Facts and interpretation stay separate

Weights, capacities and hydraulic requirements are presented as published figures. Recommendations, commercial fit and risk commentary are editorial interpretation and are identified through their wording and context.

Australian relevance must be demonstrated

A globally available machine is not automatically supported in Australia. Distribution, parts, technician reach, transport constraints and local operating conditions are treated as separate buying inputs.

Uncertainty is not filled with invented precision

Site productivity, purchase price, hourly cost and wear vary. Where evidence cannot support one number, the guide explains the variables and gives readers a method for collecting their own figure.

Material changes receive a real update date

A review date changes when the main text, data, sourcing, links or structured information changes materially. Styling or unrelated site-wide edits do not make an old page newly researched.

Corrections remain more important than consistency

When a source changes or a claim is shown to be wrong, the page is corrected. A correction does not wait for a scheduled edition update.

AI assistance

How generated material is handled

Automation and generative AI may assist with drafting, information structure, illustration and consistency checks. They are production tools, not evidence. A generated statement does not become a fact unless it is supported by an appropriate source or clearly framed as editorial reasoning.

AI-generated images are illustrative and are not presented as photographs of a named manufacturer, model, worksite or incident. They must not be used to infer machine configuration, guarding, operating limits or a safe work method.

Corrections

When information changes

Model specifications, distribution arrangements and regulations can change. Readers should confirm consequential decisions with the current manufacturer, authorised supplier and relevant regulator. Substantive corrections update the page content and its reviewed date.
